What’s the root cause of stress?

Β
The answer to this question comes from answering: What’s the purpose of finding the root? 🧐
Β
Β
I love things practical and for me, the purpose of finding a root of something means to either know where it came from or to root it! Can you think of any other use case? πŸ™‚
Β
Knowing where something comes from is great if you want to repeat or avoid the same thing happening again, so you can recognize it in advance. However, rooting means taking it out so it leaves no trace to either destroy or re-locate to an appropriate place. πŸ’ͺ
Β
Taking care of mindset is like gardening. One does not need to be an expert to have a beautiful garden, however, it does need regular maintenance. Therefore let’s look at some mindset-gardening metaphors. πŸ€—
Β
Knowing where a fruit came from is like tracing back an avocado fruit to the tree and then back to the fruit and its seed. If I like avocados, then it is useful to know that planting the seed might get me a tree bearing the fruits. Therefore recognizing fruits and seeds might be useful for me. πŸ₯‘
Β
If I already have a tree then knowing that the roots need water is also important for the tree to grow large and bring many delicious fruits. πŸ’¦
Β
Likewise, if I don’t like avocados it might be useful to recognize the seeds, so no one plants avocados in my garden. It might be useful to know not to water the plant, so it does not grow bigger. 🌱
Β
Rooting is much simpler – I don’t need to know anything about avocados: how to grow them or take care of them. All I need to know is that if I take out the plant with most of the roots, then the plant will be gone from my garden. If I don’t want the tree, then I can either destroy it or find a friend who would love to take it from me and re-plant it. 🌡
Β

Now how does this help me to deal with my stress?

Stress usually is a vicious cycle of negative reactions. ♻️
Β
And because everything is connected it does not matter where you interrupt this cycle. That’s why when you only want to get rid of the stress you don’t have to know much about it and it does not matter what’s the root cause. ☠️
Β
And because almost all our stress is emotionally mental in origin, mindfulness and becoming present is the shortest way of getting rid of it! πŸƒ
Β
Just observe – there is no immediate physical danger in the present moment. All the fear, doubt, and worry are about stories related to the past and expected future.πŸ“‰
Β
That does not mean there is no danger possible, however, it gives you the opportunity to relieve yourself from negative thinking to actually focus on solution finding vs worrying about possible problems non-stop. πŸ‘»
Β
It does give you a break to evaluate how serious actually is the matter vs just mindlessly believing the stories and accusations proposed automatically in your mind. πŸ”Ž
Β
Once you fully understand this you realize that the root cause of stress is a lack of being present! And the solution is to become present. πŸ’
